Masterfully organised from start to finish by County Secretary, Stuart Pritchard, the annual County Dinner at Kings Norton Golf Club was another great success.
The quality of the food, service and general ambience created in the newly re-furbished Kings Norton ballroom was greatly appreciated by all of the 180 guests and club members from across the County.
"It's wonderful to host such an event in a golf club, such as this, in a County with such a great history," remarked England Golf President, John Williams, in his toast to the Union.
Grenville Rose, County President, responded by thanking everyone who'd given their time and effort throughout 2017 to support the Union, such as, the Executive Members, County Coaches, Referees, parents, club members and finally the enduring commitment of the clubs themselves. This was backed up by John Williams, who made a special mention of the work of golf volunteers across the country, who, without their support, very little would take place on the scale as it does today.
After dinner entertainment, provided by Austin Knight, was hugely enjoyed by all and brought an excellent evening to a close. The County would like to express their sincere thanks to Kings Norton Golf Club for hosting the event, in particular, the warm hospitality shown by all the staff, the quality of the food and for their excellent organisation before and during the dinner itself.
Whilst the main event was taking place at Kings Norton Golf Club, Mrs Claire Painter ( Past President, Will Painter's wife) very ably hosted a ladies dinner for some 20 wives and partner's of current and past presidents on behalf of Grenville Rose, County President. The event was much appreciated by all who attended and the County would like to thank Claire for all her work in organising this dinner.
There were four main prize presentations during the evening, all presented by Grenville Rose, County President. They were as follows:
Joe Price ( Hagley GC), who received the Cunningham Trophy for the most points in the County Junior Season, 2017
Adam Norman (Moseley GC), who received the President's Shield for the most points in the County First Team, 2017
Steve Bird (Redditch GC), who received the Chandler Shield for the most points in the County 2nd Team, 2017.
Bill Thompson (Kings Norton GC), who received the Bolton Shield for the most points in the County Senior Team, 2017.
