Players Club visit on 24th March - Report and results
The County Boys trip to the Players Club, Codrington, Nr Bristol, Sunday 24th March
39 boys made it to this early season day out for the County Juniors. Fine, sunny weather and warm temperatures greeted them on their arrival and after a wholesome lunch and plenty of practice they were off to face the daunting Codrington course. The course is used for PGA Tour qualifying and has plenty of water holes and undulating greens to negotiate.
The boys were mixed up across the age categories and meant that they had to mix together and support each other in a better ball stableford competition. ( Pictured : Jack Severn and Oliver Badger made up a strong partnership)
The higher handicap boys, who were mostly the youngest, played off the forward tees whilst the lower handicap boys also played an individual stableford.
Paul Newman, Seniors Captain, who came to support the event, kindly stepped in to partner Teddy Fee, due to a late withdrawal. The youngest players ( some pictured below) really proved how much they've developed during the winter coaching programme and stood up well to the challenges the course and the whole occasion threw at them.
The overall winners were as follows:
