Report on the Junior Invitation at Gaudet Luce 26.8.15
Junior Invitation attracts 33 competitors at Gaudet Luce G.C. 26.8.15
Boys and girls under 12 years old from across Worcestershire, gathered at Gaudet Luce to take part in the second invitation event organised by the County this year. This time, the weather was kind, and everyone, including a small army of parents, watched their aspiring young golfers tee off in groups of three on the beautifully presented Hadzor Par 3 course.
The course is a great example of what can be achieved in such a small area and is perfectly suited to the development of juniors and beginner golfers of all ages. The outreach work carried out in local schools by the Gaudet Luce Professionals and the resulting pathway created has led to a thriving junior section at the club for both boys and particularly, girls.
After skilfully tackling the varied range of holes, including some over water, the children also skilfully persuaded their parents to buy some of the lovely 'wood fired' pizzas whilst they waited for the results.
The winning team on the day, pictured with Yvonne Foley County Junior Organiser ) was (LtoR) Will Danox ( Worcs G&CC), Lauren Walsh ( Gaudet Luce) and Olivia Williams (Churchill & Blakedown)
The individual girl winner was Lili - Rose Hunt ( Gaudet Luce)
The individual boy winner was Harry Brimmell ( Gaudet Luce)
The County would like to thank Gaudet Luce G.C. for their excellent support in preparing the Hadzor Course to such a high standard for this event. The hospitality and general 'ambience' in the clubhouse was very welcoming towards the children and their parents. The County look forward to returning there again soon. Thank you to the County Organisers, namely Mark Ralphs and Yvonne Foley and to Jenny Hartley ( GL Club Captain) for their tireless efforts in organising and running this event so efficiently.
Everyone is now looking forward to the next one at Kings Norton Golf Club in October this year so keep a close eye on the County website for further details.
