The best players from this years Seniors Stroke Play Championship qualified to play in The Matchpaly Finals, which were held at Cleobury Mortimer GC on Tuesday & Wednesday 25th & 26th October. In the lead up to the final on Wednesday afternoon there were some very close matches, with Gary Bristow (Redditch) taking last years Champion, Bill Thompson (Kings Norton) to the 21st hole on Tuesday afternoon, before being beaten by a "tram-liner", and Will Painter (Kidderminster) losing on the 19th hole to Bryan Swain (Stourbridge GC) in the semi final on Wednesday morning. With Bill Thompson beating Willie Kerr (Redditch) in his semi final the line up for the final was complete.
In the final, Bryan Swain went into an early 2up lead, which he maintained through 7 holes. However, Bill Thompson mounted a surge around the turn, winning 5 holes on trot, and Bill managed to close out the match on the 17th for a 3&1 victory.
