Seniors v Cambridgeshire at St Neotts GC - Friday 18th September REPORT
The team arrived bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at St Neots GC ready to take on
an experienced Cambridgeshire team needing a good result to end their season.
The morning Green somes although close, saw four of our six teams losing their
matches which meant an uphill battle in the afternoon four balls. A determined
effort saw us win the four balls 7 to 5 but unfortunately sustained an overall loss
of 9 ½ / 8 ½ a timely reminder perhaps that there is still hard work to be done if
we are to do well in The England Senior Finals in October. My congratulations go
to Roger Martin and Paul Newman who were unbeaten on the day, but a special
mention goes to Ricky Chima who won both of his matches and gained maximum
points for the team. Our last match is being played at Dudley GC on Tuesday the
22nd of September against Gloucestershire followed by our final practice at Robin
Hood GC on the 25th of September in preparation for the round robin finals against
Devon, Yorkshire and Berks, Bucks and Oxen.
