Seniors v Lincs - Match Report 16.6.15
Worcestershire Seniors v Lincolnshire Seniors - Tuesday 16th June 2015
The Worcestershire County Seniors at Gaudet Luce G.C. - Tuesday 16th June 2015
On one of the best days of the year so far, Gaudet Luce was in superb condition for this annual match against the Lincolnshire Seniors. Les Stallard stood in for Grenville Rose as Captain for the day and did a great job.
After the morning greensomes, Worcestershire led 3 -2 at lunch. As usual, the hospitality at Gaudet Luce was first class and before teeing off the players made sure they'd taken on plenty of liquids and covered themselves in sun cream in preparation for the afternoon four balls.
The matches were closely fought and birdies were plentiful as putts kept dropping on the well presented, true greens. It was good to see the Club Captain, Jenny Hartley, supporting the match by visiting and talking to the players during the lunch break as well as attending the after match dinner. Having lived for some time in Lincolnshire, she was very pleased to welcome the visitors to the club and was proud that the club was able to support this County fixture. It was also good to see Jim Gray (Worcestershire Vice President) out on the course supporting the players.
As the matches reached the 18th it was clear that the Worcestershire pairings had done enough to secure the victory by 10 1/2 to 7 1/2 points.
Tom Mooney was presented with his County Tie for representing the Worcestershire Seniors for the first time and the County would like to thank everyone at Gaudet Luce for making everyone feel so welcome and for preparing the course to such a high standard.
The County seniors would like to thank the Lincolnshire Seniors for making the long journey and under the direction of their captain, David Quincy, for their excellent sportsmanship. The Seniors look forward to returning to Lincolnshire for the match in 2016.
