Worcestershire Seniors against Northamptonshire Seniors
2nd May 2019
Venue: Gaudet Luce GC.Droitwich
I am sure that all the players from Worcestershire and Northamptonshire appreciated the lovely condition of the course as they drove up towards the Gaudet Luce clubhouse in Droitwich. This was thanks to the hard work of the head green keeper, Andy Laing, and his staff.
Alex Mackie, our official starter on the day, got us under way at 10am in the greensomes match, over 9 holes.
All of the morning matches were very close. A special mention goes to Phil White & Grenville Rose, Martin Mahon & Tom Mooney and Pete Craddock & Willie Kerr, all winning 3 and 2. Northamptonshire’s first 3 pairs all narrowly won, making the overall score for the morning matches 3 each.
During the afternoon, unfortunately, the weather took a turn for the worse, making play difficult for all. Phil & Grenville, Martin & Tom, and Pete & Willie all excelled yet again, during the afternoon better ball matches, producing a great result of 9 each.
Match Score Sheet
Matches between Worcestershire and Northamptonshire have always been played in great spirit. Thank you to all players involved and a special thank you goes to Alan Wrigley, Northamptonshire Captain.
Thanks also goes to the catering staff at Gaudet Luce. We all agreed that the dinner was excellent. Thanks goes to Steven, Head of House, for the excellent service.
After dinner, the proceedings started on a more sombre note, with Grenville Rose saying a few words about the sad news that Glenn Macbride, Past Senior Staffordshire Captain had recently passed away. We held a minutes silence in his memory
Finally, we wished each other success for the rest of the season. We all look forward to meeting again in the near future.
