Seniors v Northants at Cleobury Mortimer 10.8.17
Seniors v Northamptonshire at Cleobury Mortimer on 10th August 2017 - Match Report
The County Senior team arrived at Cleobury Mortimer GC in good spirits, following a numbers of recents victories, to play in this annual friendly match against Northamptonshire County Seniors.
Such is the strength in depth of players within the Worcestershire Seniors it was possible to select a highly competitive side as well as mix up the pairings so that they could enjoy the opportunity to play with different partners as well as compete against a strong Northants side.
The morning greensomes on the Foxes Run course saw Worcestershire take a narrow one point lead at lunch, ( 3 1/2 to 2 1/2) with the highlight being an excellent 4&3 win by Roger Martin and David McGillivary (Moseley Club Captain).
The afternoon four balls over the Badgers Sett and Deer Park courses proved to be very successful for the Worcestershire Seniors, winning four and having one of the six matches. Unbeaten on the day were the pairings of Pete Adams ( Captain) & Pete Craddock, Roger Martin & David McGillivary and Mick O'Donnell & Paul Newman ( Vice Captain). The final result was a solid 12 1/2 to 5 1/2 win.
After heavy overnight rain, the course played extremely well and was in fine condition. The hospitality shown to all the players was, as always, excellent and the County are very thankful to the CMGC Team for their positive attitude and continuous support for all County fixtures.
