Match Report

This friendly match against Nottinghamshire did not disappoint with all 24 players really enjoying the friendly rivalry and each other's company on the day with great golf played by both teams.

The course and members of staff at Hollywood GC were excellent with a special thanks to Sharon for looking after us all throughout the day. The excellent food cooked for us all by head chef Gary was much appreciated, and was complimented by first class service, which was enjoyed by all Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire players, and mentioned by both Captain’s in their after dinner speeches.

Hugh thanks also goes to Debbie O'Reilly, Manager at Hollywood GC, for her professional help in arranging this event.

For myself I would like to take this opportunity in congratulating newly appointed Notts Senior Captain Alastair McLachan for his excellent company and a job well done. I hope you have a successful two years as Captain.

Now down to the results: after again battling the elements Worcestershire had a slender lead 4-2 after the morning greensomes. With some great play by Bill Thompson & Steve Green, and also again Tony Sanders & Fred Fawkes, in the afternoon, it was great to get our first win of the season, 12-6.

Match Score Sheet

Congratulations to Fred for his first full County Senior match for which he was asked to collect his tie after dinner.

Well done to all Worcestershire County players for this determined, and much needed, win.

Finally it be remiss of me not to mention Mr Edgar Bramwell, Nottinghamshire President, for joining us all on the day - many thanks.

Now we are all looking forward to the league matches which start soon.

Good luck to all.
