The teams from both Worcestershire and Gloucestershire arrived at Bewdley Pines GC on a warm, but overcast August day to contest the annual U14 Boys match.

The welcome from Carol and her team at Bewdley Pines was first class, as was the food. Nothing was too much trouble and both sets of officials were delighted with the arrangements all day. The County would like to thank Bewdley Pines GC for hosting this match, which we hope will be the first of regular events to be held on this challenging course.
With each team down to 9 fit and healthy players, it was agreed to play 4 x 4BBB matches and one singles match to be between the two teams lowest handicap players.
The singles match was between Harvey Jones for Worcestershire and Toby Janes for Gloucestershire. The quality of the golf from both players was outstanding, with Gloucestershire just coming out on top by 2&1.
In the 1st fourball match Sam Rowbottom and Louie Stott, the Worcestershire pair, both played well, and ran out 3&1 winners. The 3rd fourball match was the next to finish, with a 4&3 win for the Worcestershire pair of Dan Wakeman and Mark Hewlett.
Thus, the overall match score stood at 2 v 1 in favour of Worcestershire, with 2 games still out on the course. Both of these games were very tight with some great golf from all players, and it was no surprise when they both came down the 18th. Unfortunately both matches finished in favour of Gloucestershire, with both Worcestershire teams (Cassius Blake & Santino Francolini and Thomas Lennon & Josh Baker) losing 2 down.
At the end of the meal, both team captains spoke, and both thanked Bewdley Pines GC for hosting the event.
