U14 County Championship at Habberley GC - Monday 24th August 2015

A small, but select field of U14 golfers from across Worcestershire, assembled at Habberley G.C. for the County Championship. The weather forecast threatened heavy rain, however, the players were fully prepared, showed little concern and were up for the challenge.

Habberely G.C. staff had pulled together to ensure that the course was in good condition for the Championships and the boys seemed to like the greens, with many long range, single putts being holed throughout the day.

The U14 Champion was Jack Severn from Cleobury Mortimer GC with a very solid round of 74 gross on the tricky Habberley course.

Nick Peplow, from Blackwell G.C, posted an excellent 65 to win the nett prize from Harrison Leaver, Gaudet Luce G.C., on the back 6 holes. Both players are relatively new to the County scene and obviously players to watch in 2016.

Patrick Leydon, an up and coming young player from Kings Norton G.C., compiled a very good gross 77 to pick up the 2nd prize.

Prizes were presented by Will Painter, WUGC President, who warmly thanked Habberley G.C. for hosting the event, and the officials, Dave McDermott, Mark Ralphs and Tony Edwards for their diligent work in efficiently running the championship.
