The Worcestershire under sixteen team gathered at Dudley Golf Club for their second fixture of the season. The team met in the clubhouse for breakfast and to discuss some of the tee shots that are crucial at Dudley. The players discussed how the elevations would affect club selection into the greens and how best to deal with all possible scenarios.
The morning was overcast and quite cold, but the lead pairing of Lawrence and Jake put an early point on the board with a clinical 4&2 win. The next point for the home team came from Nathan Grant and debutant Will Stott, which was a great way to start his county career. At lunch Worcestershire lead four points to two.
The top two games in the afternoon singles went to Leicestershire as they tried to mount a fight back. I remained confident as the quality of our players down the order are capable of beating anyone. Ben Finch and Matt Osborn managed to shrug off their morning foursomes defeat by both coming through tough matches to with three and two. Harry Lane showed great spirit and determination by making a fantastic up and down par save on eighteen to gain a half point for his team. The final six games all went to Worcestershire with a notable seven and five victory for Will Stott.
Another fine performance from the Worcestershire under sixteens. The future is bright.
I would like to thank everyone at Dudley Golf Club for their hospitality, especially their Captain Ivan Jones for his support throughout the day. I look forward to our next match in a months time.
