Worcestershire & Herefordshire Mixed Greensomes - 3rd October 2016 at The Worcestershire GC
38 mixed pairs, from 18 different golf clubs across Worcestershire & Herefordshire, arrived at The Worcestershire Golf Club on Monday 3rd October to contest the first ever County Mixed Greensomes Tournament.
The first players teed off at 10.00am as the overnight dew was just starting to lift from the course. The day promised to be warm and sunny, and did not disappoint.
The course was in exceptional condition, and attractive numerous positive comments throughout the day. The greens, in particular were in fine condition, and provided a stern test to all the players.
Good scores were returned throughout the day, but the early score of 41 points by Paul & Barbara Ramsden (Bransford GC) was to prove unbeatable, and gave them first prize.
Other prizes went to:
- 2nd place - Chris & Kerry Hobbs (Gaudet Luce GC) - 38 pts
- 3rd place - Rex & Mary Harrison (Kings Norton GC & Bromsgrove GC) - 37 pts
- 4th place - Mike & Eileen Griffin (Stourbridge GC) - 36 pts (back 9)
- Best Front 9 - John & Geraldine Williams (The Worcestershire GC) - 21 pts
- Best Back 9 - Darrel & Anne Bunn (Bromsgrove GC) - 20 points (back 6)

The prize presentation was conducted by Sylvia Laws (President, Worcestershire & Herefordshire Ladies County Golf Association) and Mard Read (Captain, The Worcestershire GC). Mark welcomed everyone to The Worcestershire and hoped that everyone had enjoyed their day. Sylvia expressed her thanks to The Worcestershire and it's members for allowing us to use the course, and passed on the praise of all the players to Steve and his team of greenkeepers for presenting the course in such excellent condition. Sylvia also thanked the catering and bar team for looking after everyone so well.
Sylvia pointed out the people who had made the day run so smoothly: namely the organiser Dave McDermott, the referees Tony Edwards & Di Wilde and the ever professional starter, Alec Mackie.
Finally, all the players who had stayed for the presentation were encouraged enter again next year, and also to encourage their friends to enter.
