WUGC Proud to Support Golf for Disabled Children - A Local Charity
In 2014 Keith James, then Seniors Captain at Hagley G&CC, launched a local charity "Golf for Disabled Children" with the aim of providing free golf lessons for children from local SEN schools, and disabled children from the wider community. In the first year the charity provided two group lessons each week, with 8-10 children attending each one. In 2015 there were three group lessons per week, and the aim is to provide 5 free group lessons per week in 2016. The sessions are provided by Gareth Snelgrove, Head Professional at Hagley G&CC, with help from Keith himself.
Due to the number of children now wishing to attend these sessions, it has become clear that Keith needs to obtain his own PGA qualification, in order to help Gareth, With no funding available from England Golf to cover the cost of the required PGA course, the Worcestershire Union of Golf Clubs was delighted to support the valuable work done by Golf for Disabled Children by providing a donation to cover the cost and to help pay for some of the up coming sessions.
