The U14's arrived at Little Lakes Golf Club enthused to take on what appeared on paper to be a strong Gloucestershire team - which proved to be the case.
Worcestershire were led off by Harry Evans (Capt) and Alex Perry who displayed great character by coming from 3 down to halve their match. For the pairing of Euan Choi and Max Wesley, their match was very tight throughout the day swinging one way then the other and eventually, with some solid play from both pairs, the match finished all square. Unfortunately it was not a similar story for the pairings of Hayden Sarfo / Jake Jeff Johnstone, Alex McVeigh / Beau Langford and Noah Wilson / Max Fall who were all under pressure from the outset and were unable to turn their matches around despite a determined and spirited effort.
All our players displayed great enthusiasm and determination but were eventually beaten by a Gloucestershire team that were generally sharper on and around the greens, this should be a good experience for the Worcestershire boys in helping them to identify areas for improvement. Overall, it was an excellent effort by all the team but they eventually ended up losing on this occasion by 4 points to 1.
There was as always excellent support from all the parents / guardians on the day which is much appreciated. Our thanks to Little Lake Golf Club for the preparation of the course and to Emily and the hospitality team for all their help throughout the day.
Also thanks to the County officials of Mark Evans, and Stuart and Debbie Pritchard whose help for this match was invaluable.
Final Score. Worcestershire 1 Gloucestershire 4
